Description du projet

Based on arab architecture in spanish cities like Seville, my summer palace presents a glance at an old type of architecture in a one floor palace with several rooms and salon which englobe different cultures or aspects. As it is supposed to be set in the 18th century, no kitchen or bathrooms or staff quaters are included since these were supposed to be in cellars under the mansion. The architecture is based on Arab palace architecture with rooms being constructed around small interior gardens with water (ponds and fountains) included. There are very little doors since the majority of the entrances to rooms are arcs hold by columns. On the west wing we find the living rooms (chambers) and some offices which would be property of lords. These rooms grown around a garden named 'The Garden of Fountains' which is a combination of the most carefully selected garden furniture and marbles for the fountains. In comparision to the small, coasy and intimate west wing, the east wing of the palace presents the opulence and grace of nobility in the Old Regime with the great offices of lords and ministers and the several Throne Halls. Some of the inferior-rank rooms are also located in this wing. In this part of the palace we mainly find the inmense library, the music room, the 'Imperial Bureaucracy Office' and very extravagant salons which englobe different cultures such as the 'Salon of Cherry Blossoms' which englobes the Japanese Culture or the 'Hall of Chinese Emperors' which enclosures the legendary Chinese culture or even the 'Hall of the Daughters of King Ocean' refering to the nimphs of the sea in Greek mythology, which is a huge hall englobing blue elements refering to the sea. Refering to the outside of the palace, we find inmense gardens which are the jewel of the Summer Palace. In front of the Dinning Hall (Hall of Tetis) we find the road of Cherry Blossoms, which ends in a huge pavillion looking at the great pond. Going North we are able to see the great Laberynth, made by bushed in line, and decorated by the presence of pavillions and ponds. The south wing of the palace, aswell as the far east wing, are sorrunded by a thick layer of oak trees and palmtrees creating an impenetrable wall of forests whcih blends into the south gardens of the palace.
